Gıyasettin Demirhan, a professor at Hacettepe University Faculty of Sport Sciences, serves as the Head of the Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department. He has held positions such as the former president of the Turkish Sport Sciences Association and former dean of Hacettepe University Faculty of Sport Sciences. Moreover, Gıyasettin Demirhan holds memberships in several international scientific associations, including AIESEP, ECSS, ICHPES, FIEP, and WLO. With nearly 40 years of experience, he is actively involved in photography and outdoor-adventure sports like climbing, mountaineering, hiking, trekking, and skiing. His research interests currently focus on critical thinking, instructional technology in physical education and sports, the correlation between physical activity and academic performance, and risk perception in outdoor-adventure sports. He has authored 25 articles in international refereed journals, 46 articles in national journals, two books, and 13 book chapters in physical education and sport pedagogy. Gıyasettin Demirhan has presented over 100 papers at international and national scientific congresses and successfully completed 14 research projects in his field. He has also served as a keynote and invited speaker at numerous national and international scientific gatherings while organizing various international and national scientific meetings.
In his speech, to be held online on June 21, 2023, at 21:00, organized by Hacettepe University's Sustainable Campuses Coordinatorship, Mr. Demirhan aims to draw attention to the relationship between physical literacy and sustainability, as well as relevant concepts within his profession. He will emphasize the importance of being environmentally conscious. The seminar will be conducted in Turkish.
