Quantum technologies are expected to have transformative and disruptive effects in sectors such as computing, communication and cryptography, measurement and sensing. Successful industrial applications have already begun in software areas such as quantum machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization. These technologies, with the potential to revolutionize every aspect of modern society from sociology to economics, law and ethics, workforce and education, are based on long-known astonishing physical principles. In our talk, we will introduce the fundamental physics principles underlying quantum technologies and the technological implications they bring, while also discussing what quantum technologies can and cannot do within the framework of physics laws.
