Akan Abdula was born in December 1978 in Skopje, Macedonia (then Yugoslavia). He graduated from Teffeyüz Primary School, which was established as a Turkish school in the 1880s in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, and then from the State High School Yosip Broz Tito, founded in 1944. He came to Turkey for his university education and received an academic merit scholarship from Bilkent University and graduated from the Department of Business Administration. He received his MBA degree from Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Management, which he attended with a scholarship. In 2003, he returned to Turkey from the USA. He has 20 years of experience in advertising, marketing strategies, brand management, and market research. He worked as a research director at Millward Brown. He was Vice President of Strategy and Planning at Grey Istanbul advertising agency and a member of the Grey Group Worldwide global strategy council. He was among the 12 strategists leading the global council. He was a member of the Advertising Self-Regulatory Board. He received numerous gold Effie awards, including Turkey's Best Product Launch and Most Effective Social Responsibility Campaigns. He founded FutureBright Research and transformed it into FutureBright Group. Today, FutureBright Group is a data group serving more than 750 global and local brands, operating from offices in several countries and managing projects in over 35 countries. He advises some of Turkey's biggest brands. He is currently closely involved with the newly established FutureBright Art Foundation. He is the author of the book The Unpredictables. Although the book is new, it has already gone through ten editions. The Daily Telegraph has covered his strategic approaches.
