Atatürk, who thought that the War of National Independence would be best managed from Ankara due to Ankara's geographical location and equal distance to the fronts, found it appropriate to gather in Ankara.
3000 horsemen and 700 pedestrians Seymen begin to wait for M. Kemal's way with great enthusiasm.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who was welcomed with great enthusiasm with the "Seymen Regiment" consisting of 3000 horsemen and 700 female and male pedestrian Seymen on the ridge of Dikmen on 27 December 1919, came to Ankara for the first time and was welcomed with enthusiasm and love by the Seymen, Ankara notables and the people of Ankara. This means that today actually constitutes the beginning of very important events for the future of Ankara and the Republic of Turkey and the history to be written.
The "Seymen Regiment" held on December 27 was more than a simple welcome ceremony; it was a new leader who would save the country from the darkness it was in, a Leader who would gather the scattered National Struggle movement in his person, to be elected by the people of Ankara and Seymen, and to be a symbol of Ankara for the Liberation Steps in the National Struggle. “National Center” is designated as a “National Headquarters”.
From now on, Ankara becomes the center of our national War of Independence, our independence, our Republic and our modernization process, which will leave its mark on the century and serve as a model for all oppressed peoples in the world.
Welcome, Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
