Lessons Aren't Dead: Effective Strategies for Great Lessons
21.11.2023 / Education

My talk is based on my observations and experiences as a student for 9 years at Bogazici and IIT universities and as a professor for 13 years at NJIT. Indeed, lectures can be seen as "dead" by students. The first part of my talk will focus on the factors that cause this, especially the "Human Element" as BASF calls it. I will talk about how and why teacher and student behaviors, abilities and attitudes lead to dead lessons. The second part of my talk will focus on how to make lessons more effective through mini-lessons-active learning-engaging techniques.
