Professor Dr. Hamdi Temel graduated from Selçuk University’s Chemistry Teaching Department in 1988 and completed his master’s and doctoral studies in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at Fırat University’s Institute of Science between 1990 and 1996. He obtained a second bachelor’s degree in Health Management from Anadolu University’s Open Education Faculty between 2017 and 2021 and earned a second doctorate in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Ankara University’s Institute of Health Sciences between 2016 and 2020. Dr. Temel began his academic career in 1989 as a research assistant in the Department of Chemistry at Dicle University’s Faculty of Education. He was awarded the titles of Assistant Professor in 1997, Associate Professor in 2002, and Professor in 2008. In 2012, he was appointed to the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Dicle University’s Faculty of Pharmacy, and in 2021, he became a professor in the Department of Medical Pharmacology at Bozok University’s Faculty of Medicine, where he continues to serve. He is the author and editor of influential books such as "Nylon Kills Love" and has numerous works on chemistry and health sciences. He gained international recognition for his discovery of harmful chemicals in plastic bottles and has made significant contributions to raising environmental awareness. He has delivered many conferences on the dangers of plastic bags, creating widespread awareness on the topic.
In his upcoming lecture, to be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Conference Hall of the Institute of Population Studies Building, Professor Dr. Hamdi Temel will discuss the harmful effects and carcinogenic impacts of plastics, widely used in daily life from clothing to food, as emphasized in his book "Nylon Kills Love." The event will be conducted in Turkish.
