Within the scope of this seminar, it is aimed to share basic information that serves as an introduction to critical theory, critical theories in education and critical pedagogy. In particular, the basic motivation behind the emergence, development and spread of critical pedagogy will be discussed within the framework of the theorists who contributed to its development and their thoughts and practices. Critical Pedagogy, which started to develop with the contributions of Paulo Freire in the 1960s, is divided into many different branches in terms of educational methodology, political perspective and practical experience. However, similar or common conceptual terminology is used; This conceptual terminology will also be included within the scope of the seminar. Additionally, Türkiye's education system will be analyzed in the context of Critical Pedagogy. The aim is to give participants a general perspective on critical approaches and critical pedagogy in education.
