Evaluation and treatment or management of swallowing disorders require a multidisciplinary team effort. Speech and language therapists are an important part of this team, along with other disciplines. One of the common causes of swallowing disorders is head and neck cancer. Hacettepe University has been working as a pioneer and innovative center in the treatment of head and neck cancers for many years. Speech and language therapists are involved in the treatment of these patients and improving their quality of life as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Speech and Language Therapy Unit located at Hacettepe University Adult Hospital monitors patients diagnosed with head and neck cancer in terms of swallowing and speech dysfunctions. The content of this symposium, which is intended to turn into a congress in the following years, has been limited to the sub-theme of head and neck cancers in order to be productive. In this symposium, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment/therapy aspects of swallowing disorders caused by head and neck cancers will be discussed multidisciplinary with leading national and international speakers in their field.
