As part of the "Hacettepe University Climate Dialogues Towards COP31" organised by our university, a session entitled "The Climate Crisis is a Health Crisis: Global Health, Health Systems, and the Future of Climate Adaptation" will be held on 6 August 2026.
The main objective of the session is to address the direct and indirect impacts of climate change on human health, to strengthen the adaptation capacity of health systems to climate change, and to discuss the sustainability transformation of the healthcare sector. The programme will comprehensively examine the effects of extreme heat, air pollution, vector-borne diseases, and food/water security issues on the health burden, the status of vulnerable groups, low-carbon health systems, and opportunities for cross-sectoral collaboration.
Moderated by Prof. Dr Mine Durusu Tanrıöver, Director of Hacettepe University Vaccine Institute and Chair of the Scientific Board of Yuvam Dünya Climate Clinic, the programme will feature a keynote speech by Burçin İkiz, Faculty Member at Stanford University, Founding Director of EcoNeuro, and Scientific Board Member of Yuvam Dünya Climate Clinic, followed by a panel discussion.
