Land Ethic Education Project
10.05.2025 / Education

Hacettepe University Land Ethic Research and Application Center will organize the “Land Ethic Education Project” for the fourth time on 10-11 May, 2025. Participants will be trained on land ethics at the Center’s open-air classroom located at Beytepe Campus. The training is in line with the Leopold Education Project of the Aldo Leopold Foundation, headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, and will be led by Prof. Dr. Ufuk Özdağ, faculty member of the Department of American Culture and Literature, and the founding director of the Center. What distinguishes this project from other environmental education events is that it centres on the idea of ethical responsibility towards the land, recognizing humans as part of an ecological community. In this context, the training will provide participants with the opportunity to look at nature from a broad perspective with the instructor staff consisting of environmental literati, environmental educator, forest engineer and biologists. Based on the idea that “the evolution of land ethics is an emotional process as well as an intellectual one,” the training emphasizes the ways of connecting with the land and the natural environment.
