Hacettepe University Climate Dialogues Towards COP31: Climate Justice and Vulnerable Communities
17.09.2026 / Conference / Seminar

As part of the "Hacettepe University Climate Dialogues Towards COP31" webinar series organised by our university, the fourth session entitled "Climate Justice and Vulnerable Communities: Adaptation Policies Reducing Inequalities" (Webinar IV) will be held online on 17 September 2026.
The climate crisis represents not only an ecological challenge but also a fundamental issue of justice that deepens social, economic, and spatial inequalities. The primary objective of this session is to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change across diverse societal groups and to evaluate fair adaptation policies tailored to children, the elderly, individuals with chronic illnesses, persons with disabilities, low-income households, outdoor workers, and communities residing in high-risk zones. Furthermore, the programme will methodologically explore participatory governance, climate adaptation financing, health disparities, climate communication, and policy proposals shaping Turkey's national agenda within the COP31 framework.
Moderated by Prof. Dr Uğur Sadioğlu, the programme will open with a keynote presentation by Prof. Dr Reyhan Atasü Topçuoğlu from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Social Work, followed by a panel discussion.
Panellists:
