The talk titled “Green Capital through Common Reason: Ankara’s Environmental Vision,” to be held within the scope of World Environment Day, aims to address the environmental issue through Ankara’s present and future. The talk will establish a discussion ground that does not regard the environmental quality of the city as limited only to the protection of natural areas, but evaluates it together with urban quality of life, public space, architecture, local governance, and participatory decision-making processes.
In the event, which will be held with the participation of Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, President of Ankara City Council, and Prof. Dr. Meltem Yılmaz, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Hacettepe University, approaches regarding the development of Ankara as a greener, more livable, and more inclusive capital city will be addressed from different aspects. Within this scope, the talk will make it possible to think together about the role of environmentally sensitive urban policies, the field of architecture and design, universities, and local actors in the urban future. The event aims to evaluate the ideal of a green capital in the context of common reason, social responsibility, and sustainable urban culture.
The talk will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:30 in the Conference Hall of the Hacettepe University Faculty of Architecture. The event will be conducted in Turkish.
