Dr. Nazmi Hoşal Memorial Day and Scientific Meeting

Prof. Dr. İ. Nazmi Hoşal was born on December 8, 1930, in Istanbul. He completed his high school education at Ankara Gazi High School. After completing his medical education at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, he went to the United States in 1956, where he completed an internship in Chicago and then specialized in Otorhinolaryngology in Washington, D.C. He returned to Turkey in 1961 and served as a specialist at Gülhane Military Medical Academy during his military service. In October 1962, during his military service, he started working part-time at the Hacettepe Institute of Child Health, which later became Hacettepe University, and he was among the founders of Hacettepe Medical Faculty. In 1963, he established the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Hacettepe, where he became an Associate Professor and later a Professor. In 1967, he founded Turkey’s first Audiology department at Hacettepe. He worked at Hacettepe until December 8, 1997, the day he retired. After his retirement, he continued to serve patients in his private practice until 2019. He passed away on November 24, 2022, at the age of 92.
