Hacettepe University Marks the 40th Anniversary of Pediatric Intensive Care with Türkiye’s First ECMO Summit
Hacettepe University, the pioneer of pediatric intensive care in Türkiye, proudly commemorates the 40th anniversary of its establishment. Coinciding with this milestone, the institution is hosting the nation’s inaugural Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Summit.
The summit addresses a comprehensive spectrum of current issues, ranging from neonatal to adult care, from cardiac surgery to mobile ECMO applications. Key topics such as centralization, structured training, certification, and the development of a national database are being discussed with the contributions of leading national and international experts.
The event not only brings together distinguished specialists from across Türkiye but also features the participation of globally recognized scholars. Among the international contributors are Prof. Ayşe Akcan Arıkan from Baylor College of Medicine, Prof. Joseph Carcillo from the University of Pittsburgh, and Prof. Briseida Mema from the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, who are joining online to share their expertise.
Organized in a hybrid format, the congress offers a unique multidisciplinary platform with the engagement of experts in pediatric intensive care, immunology, rheumatology, hematology, and cardiac surgery from major centers across the country. Furthermore, the outcomes of the summit are invited for publication as a review article in the Journal of Pediatric Intensive Care, providing international visibility and academic contribution.
